:Bisleri with 45% shares, Bailley with 23-24% . Aquafina of Pepsi
and Kinley of Coca-cola to have market share in the range of 8-9%. The
market has been growing for the last three years at an unimaginable rate
of 80%. The market size of bottled water is expected to surpass the size
of soft drinks market very soon in the near future

Pepsi-Cola Company’s Aquafina volume grew
faster than the category at 33% in 2000, according to Chicago-based data
research analysis firm, Information Resources, Inc. Aquafina is currently
the best-selling bottled water in measured U.S. retail channels (grocery
stores, drug stores, mass merchandisers, convenience stores, gas stations
and independent grocery stores). World Demand, which now stands at 77 billion
liters a year, is predicted to reach 90 billion liters by 2003. |

How long is a bottle of water good if it remains
sealed?
According to: The International
Bottled Water Association
As long as bottled water is packaged in accordance with FDA processing
and good manufacturing practices, 21 CFR, Part 129, and meets the FDA quality
standard provisions as outlined in 21 CFR, Part 165, the product's shelf
life should remain intact for an indefinite period provided that product
storage and other post-packaging and handling practices do not adulterate
or deleteriously affect the finished product. |
PARLE Bisleri, a major player in the mineral
water industry, has planned to set up a Rs 20-crore plant in West Bengal
to cater to the eastern region market.Bisleri, which has over 60 per cent
share in the Rs 400-crore industry, had 16 plants across the country besides
tie-up with 20 contract packers:
